Preparing A Messy Place For Moving
Let’s not lie to ourselves – most people are not incredibly orderly. In fact, I am pretty sure that if you go around different homes, you will notice a lot of mess, even if people try to cover it. It is important to keep order at a sufficient degree, sure, but cleaning everything? Or organizing every little item? No, we just do not have time for such things.
But, honestly, that is a bit messed up (pun intended). Order is a huge deal and it can be extremely beneficial. Having everything in sufficient order (not trying to be a perfectionist, or anything) is a great way to give your motivation a boost. It also boosts your health, too.
Anyway, even if you don’t care about the benefits of all these things, you will still have to order stuff around if you have to move. But if you feel overwhelmed even at the thought of doing all that organizing, don’t worry. As a Chicago moving company we have a lot of experience with messy places. Today we will give you our best tips on how to sort everything out.
Tip #1: Start Small
A lot of people have a problem with starting. They feel overwhelmed because they imagine they have this huge place to deal with, while actually the entire thing is just a bunch of tasks you need to do. So start small. How? By sorting out your closet. Go there and start assessing what clothes you need, and what you can give away (or throw out).
If you tend to hoard stuff like magazines, old shoes and the like, you may also consider throwing these out as well. Do you really need all these things? You don’t even look at them. They are just taking up space. I know you may feel some sort of attachment, but know this – once you get rid of them, you won’t miss a thing.
Tip #2: Room By Room
When you declutter your closet, you can start organizing things around in the rooms as well. Our general advice is to start with the least used room, because you can work there without feeling pressured by time to wrap things up quickly. Don’t do a sloppy job! Take as much time as you need and finish up your tasks. Then move on to other rooms.
Tip #3: Get Some Friends
It may be somewhat awkward to ask your friends to help you clean up your place, but it can actually be a lot of fun. Friends can help you get rid of items, which you don’t need, but also don’t have the willpower to throw out. Plus, time just flies by if you have some fun with your peers, instead of doing everything by yourself.
We hope that with these tips everything will be fine with your messy place. Now all that is left to do is to give us a call and we will be there to help you with everything related to moving!
